The Tribe. On me reprochera pas de faire dans l'archi connu.

The Gamma Goochie/I'm Leaving (Planet PLF 108) 1966
Love Is A Beautiful Thing/Steel Guitar (RCA RCA 1592) 1967

A little-known band. I'm Leaving is notable as a blues-influenced, organ-led number more in the style of American garage bands. This Planet 45 was produced by Shel Talmy. The RCA release is more soulful and could be by a different band. There was also a different American band of this name who released a 45 over here on Polydor in 1970.

KEITH WEST
MARK WIRTZ

NB: (1) also issued in stereo on Studio Two (TWO 160) in 1967.

45s:
A Touch Of Velvet, A String Of Brass/Bond Street P.M. (Columbia DB 7801) 1966
Chinese Chequers/The Real Mr. Smith (Columbia DB 8149) 1967
The Yellow Spotted Capricorn/(Flip by different artist) (Parlophone R 5716) 1968

Reissue 45s:
A Touch Of Velvet, A String Of Brass/Bond Street P.M. (Columbia DB 8618) 1969
A Touch Of Velvet, A String Of Brass/Bond Street P.M. (Soul Supply 755102) 1984

An instrumental pop outfit. Keith West was the vocalist in Tomorrow and Mark Wirtz was their producer. Their first 45 was used as a theme tune for 'Beat Club' in Germany and Dave Lee Travis brought it back with him and used it on his show. Great swinging sixties kitsch, it's also played on the Northern soul scene.

Compilation appearances include: Why Can't There Be More Love on Justafixation (LP).
